2. Spread Primer and AdhesiveSpreading Primer: All Cortiça tiles will come with Neoprime. Spread primer over total floor area using a brush, roller or flat trowel. Remember to apply thinly so that drying time will be accelerated. Spreading Adhesive (Latex Contact Adhesive)
All Cork Concepts coloured tiles will come with Latex Contact Adhesive. We use contact latex adhesives for many reasons:
§ Ability to sand and polyurethane the cork immediately after laying & rolling the tiles.
§ Less moisture content.
§ Better adhesion.
§ Less chance of glue getting on top of the tiles prior to polyurethaning.
§ Coloured cork tiles have an inbuilt curve. Wet glues will not pull them down. Contact adhesive will. § No build up of excess glue under the tiles.
When the primer is dry, spread a layer of contact adhesive on the floor using a flat trowel. Ensure that no lumps of adhesive are left on the floor. Cut any lumps out with a The contact latex will dry and become more transparent after 10 –15 minutes. This is the time to lay the tiles. Do not lay the tiles if you can see “cloudy patches” on the floor. Those areas will not be dry yet. The tiles can be lifted off the contact if not laid correctly but once pressure is applied, the tiles will not move. After laying the tiles, roll the floor with a heavy roller to ensure total contact. |
